Key to our continued success is our approach to using the best ingredients that provide value for money. Wherever possible we source local ingredients such as fruit, vegetables, bread and meat. Our fresh produce is sourced through a local fresh produce supplier, who have developed grower partnerships and procure from the UK where possible, local first, then regional, then national.

We've particularly picky about how meat, fish, poultry, eggs and dairy get to our plate. We believe it's only right that animals (and fish) are reared to very high welfare standards. Because it's respectful and right, and because the meat tastes better, and is better for you.

Our meat

Our meat is supplied by Creed Catering who offer the finest range of meat and poultry products sourced from local producers, specialising in local breeds, whose range includes Beef, Poultry, Lamb and Pork. Creed also provide products that are certified by the RSPCA under their freedom food labelling scheme improving the welfare of animals reared for food.

Their experienced Butchery staff use state of the art technology for processing and packaging products, all of which are approved to all EC and FSA Food, Hygiene and HACCP regulations to ensure the quality and freshness of products. All products are fully certified and traceable from source utilising their bespoke labelling system.

Our fish

We are at the forefront of seeking and using fully sustainable and traceable fish on our menus. As more fish becomes certified by MSC we will use them when possible. We do not demand fish for our special board but request it, so our fish supplier can go to the market and buy us what is good on the day.

Our fruit and veg

We source most of our fruit from the UK to help support UK producers and minimize fuel emissions from long-haul transportation. We never buy air-freighted fruit. When we buy our fresh fruit, it arrives packaged in cardboard boxes on pallets. We recycle all these cardboard boxes meaning that they do not end up in landfill sites.

Our dairy

We get our milk directly from dairy farmers as well as milk co-operatives, the majority of whom are located in southern and central England and South Wales. Milk from these farmers is supplied either for liquid milk consumption or for manufacture into a range of dairy products, including cheese, milk powder, butter, and cream.

The milk produced by our direct suppliers is 'farm assured', ensuring that we use only top quality milk produced to stringent standards governing food safety, animal welfare and protection of the environment. Our direct supplying farms must comply fully with the requirements of the Assured Dairy Farm (ADF) national dairy farm assurance scheme.

Our eggs

It is our policy to never handle eggs that have come from caged/intensive hens and for that matter any other eggs other than genuine free range. All the free range eggs we use as an ingredient comes from known, independently audited suppliers and meets the BEIC Lion Code, or its equivalent.
